Bus Tours

Imagine traveling back in time to the mid-1880's in Ephraim, WI.  Enjoy walking along the pristine, quiet shores of Eagle Harbor near 100-year-old Peninsula State Park.

Enter one of 5 Ephraim Village museum buildings where costumed docents enact the roles of a local pioneer schoolhouse teacher (1869) or Anderson Store owner (1858).   Our 2010 special exhibit in Anderson Barn– "Stitches in Time" -- honors the clothing of founding families of Ephraim with photographs, period clothing and entertaining stories.

Our 1.5 hour walking tour provides a broad perspective of Ephraim's history –from the initial discovery by Reverend Andreas Iverson in 1853-- to the establishment of hotels and inns in response to waterside travel by steam ships in the early 19th century.

If tourists need a combination of walking and sightseeing from a bus, we can accommodate the tour to fit their needs.  Possible routes & sites include:

·        exit the bus to tour our Anderson Barn and exhibit

·        walk across the street to the Anderson Store to learn the life of "Lizzie Anderson" and enjoy the waterfront view from Anderson Dock.

·        return to the bus and drive south on Hwy 42 – viewing historically significant buildings and Ephraim's Firehouse Museum.

·        The bus turns left on Moravia, passes the Moravian and Lutheran churches, and concludes at the Foundation's Pioneer Schoolhouse (1869).  They will experience the life of an Ephraim child as they sit in desks and learn lessons from a "school teacher" who is a descendant of Helen Sohns, co-founder of Ephraim Historical Foundation.
