The Ephraim Historical Foundation needs volunteers to help us run our many programs each summer!
There are also plenty of non-program related opportunities to help out, too. Students can use their volunteer hours toward community service requirements, as appropriate for their school.
Please take a look at the Volunteer Opportunities for this year and consider donating a few hours of your time. Thank you!
Email Kelli C.Torpey (ktorpey@ephraim.org) or call the Ephraim Historical Foundation office at (920) 854-9688, with any questions or offers.
If you haven't volunteered for the Foundation, and would like to, please download and complete the attached form:
Archiving Help: We are in need of volunteers to help maintain a clip file of our local newspapers, and also to aid Sally in the sorting, cleaning, and filing of archival materials and artifacts.
Costumes Cleaning & Organization: This ongoing task would involve the coordination, cleaning, ironing, and organization of our sizeable collection of historic costumes and clothing. Perfect for a person who is interested in antique clothing.
Child's Play: This summer event for children ages 4 and above takes place over four Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am in July to mid-August. Children read a book together as a group and then create a craft that pertains to the story they have just read. Tasks would include organizing the event in the morning with Child's Play coordinator Barb Fox and helping the children with their crafts.
Docent Partners: Big desire to be involved but short on time? Send in a check to support the Foundation's efforts in staffing the buildings with paid docents. Join this very successful effort, started in 2005, that helps keep our Museums open to the public.
Exhibit Reception Help: 2011's changing exhibit in the Anderson Barn will be "The Garments of our Foundation" including artistic renderings created by Karin Kopischke and narratives written by Paul Burton. We hope many members and Ephraim residents & visitors will attend the Friday evening reception, June 17. We will need help setting up food and decorations for the event.
Mailing Help: We're always looking for help with mailings – and we have quite a few of them during the spring and summer months! Our mailing list is small enough that a few volunteers can usually complete one of our mailings in an afternoon.
Programming Volunteer: We have an urgent need for a person or two who is willing to help us set up for our various programs like the Ephraim Sing-Alongs, and History Speaks – We will need to set up chairs in the Village Hall, helping with nametags or picking up supplies.
Christmas in Ephraim or Annual Holiday Potluck: This is a festive, fun time of the year and allows us time to enjoy the food and good company of others. We need help setting up Village Hall, decorating and helping Rachel Willems with various stations (ie, decorating cookies, drawing and more).
Opening/Closing of Buildings/Adopt a Building: Another area in which your help would be greatly appreciated. We need volunteers to help open the Ephraim Village Museums in spring (late April/early May), and to put them to bed in the fall (mid to late October). We are also looking for any interested volunteers that would be willing to "Adopt a Building" and be responsible for its care and maintenance throughout the summer and fall months.
